India’s IT flexible staffing industry is set to grow at an annual rate of 7% through 2026, according to a report by the Indian Staffing Federation (ISF). This sector, which supplies temporary and contract-based IT professionals to companies, is witnessing a revival as hiring trends improve.
After a slowdown in hiring over the past few quarters, IT companies are now resuming campus recruitment and converting contract-based employees into full-time staff. The report highlights a rising demand for flexible staffing across various industries, including BFSI, fintech, logistics, energy, and utilities.
Key Trends in IT Flexi Staffing:
1. GCCs Expanding Workforce – Global Capability Centers (GCCs) now account for 8.2% of flexi staffing, driven by new center openings in India.
2. High Flexi-Staffing Demand – BFSI & fintech sectors lead with a 17.1% penetration rate, followed by logistics, energy, and utilities at 14.6%.
3. Emerging Tech Hubs – Cities like Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Vishakhapatnam, Surat, Kochi, and Nagpur are seeing a surge in IT flexi hiring.
4. Major IT Cities Still Dominate – Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Delhi NCR remain the top locations for IT contract staffing.
This shift indicates that businesses are embracing flexible staffing models to address evolving market demands. The report also highlights the increasing focus on gender inclusivity and region-specific hiring trends in the IT workforce.
As the industry adapts to these changes, flexible staffing solutions are expected to play a vital role in supporting business growth and operational agility.
